This series of photographs explores screen display as a transitional medium. The images that are displayed on a screen compete with and influence our first-hand, primary experience.
I take photographs of simple, apparently mundane homemade movies found on YouTube and other platforms. I also include the surface of the screen, capturing reflections and artifacts that are part of the “real” world — namely the physicality of the computer screen. This process aims to subvert and question the trust in digital mass media’s representation of reality. It aims to achieve it by bringing the viewer back to the awareness of the process of watching itself.
