Inspired by a walk toward a lake along a hilly trail in Algonquin Park, this painting reconstructs the objects and vistas I encountered. I was particularly interested in the stream I could hear but not easily see, and in how the mind forms a complete image of the hill without ever seeing the entire landscape. Through many playful adjustments, I shaped the composition to reflect both the physical and perceptual experience of the trail.
